During my academic year on the MA programme in Creative Writing at University College Cork, I applied for the coveted position of one of eight Puttnam Scholars. I was tasked with writing the script for a short film in time for it to be produced, filmed, and screened in the space of six months. In David’s own words, what I did was: “Damn good, and brave.”
This op-ed article was written shortly before we began casting for the film. I had one day to write it.
